SIR, Winter is upon us and the dark times are here.

Now I find the Southend Tories have shut the budget that looks after the lampposts, these will only be logged, but no one is going out to sort out the lighting problems.

In the Old Town a lamppost by the Crooked Billet has been hit and is leaning over and the give way sign is bent from about a third of the way up the post and nothing can be done about it.

Government cuts and extra work and cost of Social care for the elderly and children in care has shot up, with more and more in need of help.

Yet the Council is now letting the lights go out across the City. If a street light is out near you, report it and email Coun Cox ([email protected]), as he was the one that promised to keep the lights on at night.
