Quiz Raised £770

A LEIGH quiz raised over £700 in aid of The Sick Children’s Trust.
The event, held at the Leigh-on-Sea Brewery’s flagship pub Legra pub, was organised by Daisy Browne, the aunt of a youngster called Freddie, as part of her fundraising drive for the charity.
The Sick Children’s Trust supported Freddie and his family during a critical time soon after his birth.
He was rushed to the Royal London Hospital where he underwent major surgery after his windpipe was not properly connected to his throat, meaning he was unable to swallow or take in liquids.
During this time, Freddie’s parents, Mylo and Liv Browne, remained by his side as he received lifesaving treatment.
Ms Browne said: “thanks to The Sick Children’s Trust, Freddie’s parents never had to face those moments alone.
“The charity gave them a warm, safe place to stay just moments away from Freddie, easing the weight of worry so they could focus entirely on their tiny, fighting little boy.”
The quiz was the latest in a series of fundraising events, following on from the recent ‘Daisy’s Footsteps for Freddie’ fundraiser in Old Leigh in May this year.
The quiz, which brought together friends, family and residents, contributed £770 to the cause, bringing Ms Browne’s fundraising total to an incredible £7,390 at time of writing.
Ms Browne’s brother Angus commented: “This quiz demonstrated the incredible support and generosity of the local community in helping families with seriously ill children.
“The atmosphere throughout the evening was fantastic, with teams coming together for a great cause while raising valuable funds for The Sick Children’s Trust, which provides accommodation and support for families with children receiving hospital treatment.”
