A PROLIFIC thief from Rayleigh has been jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty to multiple theft offences.
Stefan Jaworski, 41 of Francis Walk, had previously been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order after being connected with thefts from Marks and Spencer stores in Rayleigh, and Sainsburys in Rochford.
Between June 19, 2023, and July 10, 2023, multiple breaches of this order were reported to Essex Police.
Following the reports, Jaworski was arrested on suspicion of five counts of theft from a shop as well as six counts of breach of Criminal Behaviour Order.
The 41-year-old was remanded into custody after being charged.
He then appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 12, where he pleaded guilty, and was given a 12-month imprisonment for the theft from a shop offence to run concurrently with a 22-month prison recall.
Insp David Kealy from the Castle Point and Rochford community policing team said: “This individual is a hugely prolific offender, and we will not tolerate this behaviour in our district.
“My officers monitored him closely when he was released on licence and were able to act swiftly to ensure he was recalled to prison and charged with the further offences at the first opportunity, denying him bail and in doing so, the opportunity to reoffend whilst awaiting a court date.
“This robust approach has kept not only the local businesses safe, but also the wider public, preventing many offences that would otherwise have been committed and returned the individual to prison with an extended sentence.”
