A LEIGH bookshop has been featured in the New Bookshop Travel Guide Celebrating Essex’s Literary Gems.
Leigh’s beloved bookshop, Read on Sea, has gained national recognition, securing a spot in the latest edition of Bookshop Tours of Britain by Louise Boland, published by Fairlight Books.
Known as the ultimate guide for book-lovers on a slow-travel quest, Boland’s guide celebrates cosy, independent bookshops as literary destinations, encouraging readers to explore Britain one charming bookshop at a time.
Read on Sea is one of five Essex bookshops spotlighted in the guide’s fourth edition.
Joining it are Butterfly and Bee in Clacton, Mandy’s Book Snug in Southend, Manningtree Arts in Manningtree, and The Book Nook in Tollesbury
Each shop offers a unique appeal, from Read on Sea’s seafront literary gatherings to The Book Nook’s inviting Tollesbury community vibe.
Amidst the rapid resurgence of independent bookshops in Britain, the latest edition highlights over 60 new stores, including the Essex shops, a testament to the renaissance of book-buying and the appeal of independent bookshops in the UK.
