Marcus Dean, Group Events Manager for the 3rd Chalkwell Bay Scouts, has been recognised for his dedication and hard work in bringing the Old Leigh Regatta back into operation.
Under Mr Dean’s lead, the event has resurrected much-loved Regatta traditions as well as bring many new people to the Old Town to enjoy the maritime tradition.
In recognition of his efforts, Mr Dean received the Donald Fraser Volunteer of the Year Award by Leigh Town Council.
A spokesperson for 3rd Chalkwell Bay Scouts said: “One of our team has been recognised by Leigh Town Council for his dedication and hard work in bringing this fantastic community event back to life.
“His commitment is a brilliant reminder of just how vital volunteers are to our community. “It’s people like Marcus who give their time, energy, and passion to create opportunities, bring people together, and keep local traditions thriving.
“We’re so proud to see him awarded the Donald Fraser Volunteer of the Year Award by Leigh on Sea Town Council — a truly well-deserved honour.
“Well done, Marcus — a fantastic achievement!”
