ANNA Firth, the Conservative Candidate for Southend West & Leigh, presented two additional Shark Rescue/Patrol Kayaks to Chalkwell Lifeguards Club to boost the Clubs existing fleet to a total of six of these life saving craft, to help keep the community and visitors to Southend City safe with additional kayak patrols along the foreshore this summer.
These rescue craft were a kind donation from Herts Canoe Lifeguards Club.
This presentation ceremony took place at The Sir David Amess Statue site on Chalkwell Promenade where Ms Firth joined Lifeguard Volunteer Darren Kiggins in laying donated fresh cut flowers as a celebration of life tribute to Sir David Amess MP.
Mr Kiggins said: ” Shark Rescue Kayaks are very versatile Emergency Response Craft on the water and are proven to be able to respond to casualties in the water very quickly and can also be used as improvised First Aid stretchers, if any further generous donations are forthcoming, our target is a fleet of 10 of these Life Saving craft. ”
