RESOURCEFUL litter pickers joined volunteers from KFC to clear up parts of the district.
Rochford District Litter Picks celebrated ‘The Great British Spring Clean’ by joining up to pick litter in Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park, and surrounded areas.
The Hockley and Hawkwell team also covered Hawkwell Road, and found dumped gas canisters in Highams Road and Glencrofts Open Space.
A spokesperson said: “Unusual items found this week also included an old computer, wheel hubs, gas canisters, pants and an old metal Gas meter, a road cone and a sofa cushion.
“Six vapes were collected on route, and three bags of mixed recycling.
“Fly tipping found during the litter pick at Stambridge was also reported.”
The group thanked volunteers old and new, adding: “Welcome to our new volunteer litter pickers- you were all fantastic. It’s lovely to meet you. We were most appreciative of the hospitality and refreshments provided by KFC after our litter pick.”
