ROCHFORD Rotary Club donated £1,000 to a charity that supports people with sight loss and visual impairment.

Jerry Davenport of Rochford Rotary Club visited Southend in Sight to see how the laptop the charity has purchased is helping the team at the charity carry out their activities.

A spokesperson for Southend in Sight said: “We are delighted once again to receive a donation from Rochford Rotary Club.

“The cheque for £1000 has enabled us to purchase a new touchscreen laptop for our partially sighted intern Kirsty, and a new i-phone to demonstrate the use of Apps and voiceover to the people we support at our tech appointments in our Centre.

Kirsty added: “A huge thank you to Rochford Rotary Club for this generous donation.

“The laptop is invaluable in my new role as Administrative Support Intern at Southend in Sight.

“Being partially sighted, using a touch screen means I can magnify text quickly and easily and aids with hand and eye coordination.  T

“The laptop really is a key part of my assistive technology set up.”
