Saving Mount Bovers

MP Mark Francois joined nearly 300 of his constituents at a protest walk, against plans to build 350 houses on a Green Belt site, in his constituency.
The Rayleigh & Wickford MP joined the Save Mount Bovers community walk, at which protesters spent over an hour walking around the rural site, the fate of which will be decided by a Public Inquiry, which starts next month.
The event was filmed by Channel 4 News, for a forthcoming item about house building in the Home Counties.
Mr Francois was accompanied on the walk by his wife, Olivia and Coun Danielle Belton, the Conservative Group Leader on Rochford District Council.
Commenting on the event, Mr Francois said: “This was a very well-attended event.
“Former Hawkwell Councillor, Julie Gooding, who helped to organise it, counted 280 people who turned up, to illustrate the strength of feeling against this development.
“As the local MP, I will be giving evidence at the Pubic Inquiry next month and I very much hope that, collectively, we can persuade the Planning Inspector of the need to Save Mount Bovers, for future generations to enjoy.”
