A LEIGH prep school honoured Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day with a Poppy Appeal and special church service.

St Michael’s School supported the Armed Forces Poppy Appeal and held lessons on the importance of remembrance, followed by a performance at St Margaret’s Church by the school’s Senior Choir during the Remembrance Sunday service on November 10th.

The school also held a two-minute silence, honouring all who sacrificed their lives in active service from the First World War to the present day.

A spokesperson for the school said: “A poignant two-minute silence, accompanied by the solitary sound of The Last Post, preceded the laying of the school wreath by Head Boy Rafferty and Head Girl Isla.

“The service, involving pupils from Nursery to Year 6, was a moving tribute to those who gave their lives.

“The event embodied the school’s dedication to honouring the memory of fallen servicemen and women, fostering a sense of respect and reflection among the students for generations past and present.”
