A LEIGH-based breast cancer trust launched a fun pop-up experience to help people educate themselves on breast care and stay healthy.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Southend, alongside Anna Firth MP for Southend West joined Radio Presenter Su Harrison, West Ham legend Tony Cottee, and trustees Alan Kirkman, Christine Wyatt and Chrissy Nichols, to launch the event at the Royals Shopping Mall.
Selfie on Sea consists of 11 selfie booths, each one individually themed so people can come and take fun selfies whilst learning about how to check themselves properly for breast cancer.
The exhibition encourages all to contribute to the cause by participating and spreading the word through social media.
Christine Nichols said: “1 in 7 ladies and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, and the purpose of Selfie on Sea is to have fun whilst learning about the importance of knowing your own body and how finding breast cancer early can save your life.”
She added: “Join the excitement and make a positive impact.”
The Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust is the only Breast Cancer Charity in the UK to currently offer one to one support with a nurse for Breast Awareness appointments, both remotely and face to face.
They rely totally on donations, fundraising and specific grant funding when available.
Entry tickets for one-of-a-kind experience are priced at £5 per person, and the event is on at The Royals Shopping Centre is open until September 2.
