SERVING the Homeless, a Leigh based charity, held a pre-coronation afternoon tea at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Centre in Leigh raising £899 to support local homeless people.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We had a fantastic afternoon tea in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Centre, celebrating the coronation of King Charles the third.

“Serving the Homeless supplied scones with jam and cream, fresh strawberries, and a large selection of delicious cakes, Prosecco, tea and coffee.

“Elizabeth Upsher was brilliant sharing the life of King Charles and singing appropriate songs after each stage of his life. The audience truly appreciated Elizabeth and joined in with the singing.

“We had a full house and as a result Serving the Homeless benefited by the sum of final figure we raised was £899. We would like to thank everybody who supported us.”
