EXCITEMENT is building as final preparations are made for Two Artists, a special art exhibition featuring the works of Ruth Rotherham and Teresa Barbary.

The show highlights the talent of the two artists and will take place at the Living Room, 191 Leigh Road, Leigh, SS9 1JE.

Ruth Rotherham is a well-established Leigh Art Trail artist known for her accomplished work, while Teresa Barbary’s artistic journey began when she started attending Room for Art, a welcoming creative space held every Wednesday morning in the Living Room.

Over time, Teresa Barbary has developed a vibrant and distinctive style, earning admiration for her colourful still-life paintings.

Trevor Imbush, volunteer leader of Room for Art, has been a strong advocate for Ms Barbary’s work. In recognition of her talent, some of her paintings will also be displayed at neighbouring and adjoining ‘The Phabulous Café’ over the weekend. Mr Imbush has also generously provided frames for twelve of Ms Barbary’s pieces, which have been carefully selected for the exhibition. Meanwhile, Ruth Rotherham has created a collection of new works specifically for the occasion.

A recent discussion with Ms Barbary highlighted the personal value of her work, and she has chosen to donate a percentage of her sales proceeds to Phablife, the charity that runs the café to support young adults with additional needs.

Ms Rotherham also plans to contribute a portion of her sales to the charity. Artwork prices will range from £30 to £80, making this an accessible opportunity for art lovers to support both the artists and Phablife’s mission.

Adding an element of excitement, both artists will select a piece for a secret auction, giving attendees a chance to bid on exclusive artwork while supporting a great cause.

Ms Barbary shared her excitement, saying: “I never imagined my artwork would be displayed in an exhibition.

“Room for Art has given me the confidence to share my passion, and I’m thrilled to support Phablife through this event.”

Ms Rotherham added: “Creating new pieces for Two Artists has been an inspiring journey. Art has a unique way of bringing people together, and I’m so happy to be part of this special event.”

The exhibition will be open on Saturday 1 March, 10am–4pm and Sunday 2 March, Midday–4pm at the Living Room, 191 Leigh Road, Leigh, SS9 1JE.
