A SOUTH Essex MP visited an established local opticians, as part of his support for Small Business Saturday.

Mark Francois, the MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, visited Castle Opticians, owned by local businessman Stephen Castle, which provides eye tests, glasses and other optical services for residents across South Essex.

Small Business Saturday, which this year fell on 7 December, is an annual event, during which local MPs are encouraged to visit small businesses in their constituency, to help highlight the vital role they play in the economy.

Commenting on his visit, Mr Francois said: “Castle Opticians, which has branches in both Rayleigh and Benfleet, is a great example of a thriving local business, which has been successfully serving local people for many years. I ‘shopped local’ and bought my latest pair of glasses from them earlier this year and – for the avoidance of doubt – I paid for the glasses myself.”
