Southend City Day- City Day is an opportunity to celebrate Southend’s incredible community spirit and rich heritage.

SOUTHEND City Council is calling on local performers, community and cultural groups, schools, colleges, and food and drink traders to join in the city’s first-ever City Day celebrations on Saturday 1 March 2025.

The event will mark the anniversary of Southend being granted city status in 2022 and is intended to  bring the High Street and seafront to life with a vibrant mix of entertainment, community activities, and cultural displays.

From a main stage with live performances to walkabout entertainers and community stalls, the celebration will offer something for everyone. The event will also pay tribute to the late Sir David Amess MP, whose dedication helped secure Southend’s city status, as well as highlighting the city’s rich heritage and diverse community.

Coun Matt Dent, cabinet member for culture, tourism, and business, said: “City Day is an opportunity to celebrate Southend’s incredible community spirit and rich heritage.

“We’re inviting local groups and traders to be a part of this historic event and help create a day to remember. It’s all about coming together to showcase what makes our city so special.”
