ROCHFORD District Council are asking residents to start applying for road closures by mid March if they intend to hold street parties.

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place Saturday, May 6, with a Bank Holiday to be held on Monday, May 8.

Coun Arthur Williams, Portfolio Holder for Communities, housing & Health said: “We know that many residents are eager to celebrate and pay tribute to King Charles III by taking part in local events across the district in his honour.

“We want to do all we can to make the process of organising a street party as simple as possible and ensure our local celebrations are happy and safe events.”

A spokesperson for the council said: “If you and your neighbours are planning a street party to mark this historic occasion, you need to start preparing now.

“If you would like to organise your own street party you will need to apply for a road closure at least six weeks before the date of the event.

“You will need to complete a simple application form, which you can find on our website site, and email back to us before Friday March 17, 2023.
