A POPULAR music event is now underway again in Southend.

The return of the popular Music in the Park series at the Bandstand in Priory Park commenced over the Easter Weekend, with may attending the free and nostalgic evocation of free music in the outdoors in the iconic Bandstand once located on the Cliffs.

Now, everyone can join Southend Council at weekends and on bank holidays until Sunday 28 September for an array of live performances at the Bandstand in Priory Park.

From brass bands to jazz bands, big bands to duos, youth bands, choirs, and dramatic groups performing Shakespeare – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Visitors are encouraged to bring along a chair or blanket, sit back, and enjoy the music in the beautiful surroundings of Priory Park.

Coun Matt Dent, cabinet member for culture, tourism, and business, said: “We’re thrilled to bring back Music in the Park for another summer of fantastic entertainment.

“The Bandstand in Priory Park is the perfect setting for a range of performances, and it’s wonderful to see this event return this summer.

“We invite everyone to come along and enjoy the music, bring their family and friends, and make the most of the summer. These free concerts are a brilliant way to experience the vibrant culture of our city.”

The performances will take place from 3.00pm to 4.30pm and are free to attend.
