A LEIGH choir will be beguiling audiences this June with a special concert held at the Hadleigh Salvation Army Temple.

The Orpheus Singers, together with Southend Wind Orchestra will be presenting an eclectic programme entitled ‘Music For A Summer’s Evening’ on Saturday June 17.

There is a distinct Japanese theme for part of the evening with The Orpheus Singers presenting Bob Chilcott’s arrangements of five Japanese songs that tell of life in Japan.

They combine under the title of Furusato, with the English singing translations by Charles Bennett.

Southend Wind Orchestra will then continue the theme and paint a vivid picture of Japan with Gustav Holst’s Japanese Suite.

“The concert programme will also feature music from Irving Berlin, Lennon & McCartney, Roger Quilter, John Rutter and an encore of Handel’s Zadok The Priest that featured at our Prelude to the Coronation concert in May”, said Marion Orchard, the Orpheus Singers Concert Manager.

The concert is at 7.30pm at Hadleigh Salvation Army Temple, Hadleigh SS7 2PF.

Tickets cost £10 and are available by contact 07518 382390, or visiting: theorpheussingers.co.uk
