SOUTHEND West MP is supporting a new boat trip venture, established by a Leigh businessman.

Anna Firth is backing Browne’s Thames Estuary Boat & Fishing Trips, recently established by Angus Browne, founder and owner of Browne’s Bootcamp, which is based in Belton Way in Leigh.

Brownes Thames Trips offers passengers boat trips and tours aboard two boats “Daisy Margaret” and “Starfish”.

Day tippers can enjoy unique sea voyages to Southend Pier, Mulberry Harbour, SS Richard Montgomery, Red Sands Maunsell Forts, and many more locations.

Mr Browne had plans to bring a new pontoon to Old Leigh and requested access to take passengers from Southend Pier for accessibility and safety reasons, but he was denied, despite being local to Leigh.

Mr Browne and Mrs Firth visited Strand Wharf along with Leigh Town Council Chairman Bernard Arscott to discuss the future of Mr Browne’s venture, and are advocating to expand tourism potential by allowing more and more people to see the marine and hidden land beauties that Southend has to offer.

Ms Firth said: “I am delighted that Angus, such a key local business entrepreneur, is looking to expand his already successful business and add to the local economy.

“I am very supportive of his proposals and can’t wait for my first boat trip with him.”

Mr Browne added: “I wanted freedom, open-air, challenges, adventure. I found it on the sea.”
