THE oldest Indian restaurant in the City of Southend, Taj Mahal in Leigh Road, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a party attended by Southend’s new Mayor and Mayoress, Coun Stephen and Tracy Habermel, along with many regular customers, some who have supported the restraint since it first opened in 1973.
