Teachers to run marathon for MS

THREE PE teachers fron a school in Westcliff are gearing up to run the London Marathon in support of a charity supporting multiple sclerosis patients.

Stuart Greaves, Joe Sexton, and Henry Morrant – who all work at Westcliff High School for Boys (WHSB) – will be running the marathon this April to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The trio, who hope to raise £6,000, were inspired to run the marathon after Mr Greaves’ mother was diagnosed with relapse remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2015.

Mr Greaves said: “This is something my mother battles with daily and will continue to do so for the rest of her life.

“We are keen to raise awareness of this disease, which has numerous strains and affects approximately 1 in every 500 of the population with no known cure. We would greatly appreciate your support at our charity events and any donations you are able to make.”

A spokesman for WHSB said: “We are delighted to hear that all three members of staff have been awarded charity places in the London Marathon 2023 and will be raising much-needed funding for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“We are proud of their efforts and wish them the best of luck with the fundraising and training for the marathon in April.”
