A LEIGH teen has let her creative passions bloom into real skill in a story of self-taught success.

During the lockdown, many people found new hobbies to pass the time, but for 16-year-old Niamh Connolly-Joyce, it was the start of her new direction.

A self-taught creative makeup artist, Miss Connolly-Joyce has spent the last few years honing her skills, transforming faces into striking works of art.

Miss Connolly-Joyce began experimenting with makeup in 2020, using the extra time at home to practice and perfect her craft.

Always interested in art and creativity, she was inspired by the television programme Glow Up on the BBC.

She now hopes to develop a career in make-up and special effects, and is driven by her love of sharing creativity.

Miss Connolly-Joyce said: “Creativity makes daily life more interesting and enjoyable, when we share creative expressions through art, we can invite others into our unique perspectives and experiences.”

Her mother Clare is wowed by her daughter’s talent: “Niamh has got better and better she does a look every day and she can do different styles and characters and also themed looks.”

One of her favourites is the gothic skull effect make-up, which she models in a recent photo.
