A THERAPY pony who has helped countless children and adults is now fighting for her life.

Secret, from Leigh’s Silverbirch Farm, has been in veterinary hospital since Friday, May 16 with a “Rare and serious rectal impaction.”

Now, her owner Nikki Birch has started an urgent appeal to pay for the specialised treatment she requires.

Secret is one of the most well-known members of Silverbirch Farm.

With the Therapy Centre from its inception, she’s helped children with disabilities and supported people recovering from trauma.

Silverbirch Farm cannot afford comprehensive insurance for all the animals it cares for, and whilst they have an emergency fund for situations like this, Secret’s treatment costs are exceeding what is available.

Secret has helped so many people in the community with her intuitive connection at the Sanctuary, that it is hoped people will want to donate to her cause at her time of need.

Ms Birch was reported as explaining: “Secret has helped many people during her lifetime, and we are hoping that she will recover so that she can continue to do the job she loves, getting out and about to care homes and hospitals.

“I won’t lie, the situation at the moment is very touch and go, but everything is being done to help her recover, and she is in the best place possible, with the vet.”
