A LEIGH artist is installing a thought-provoking artwork in Southend’s smallest museum.

Artis Lauren Stranks has created a work called ‘We Got Cut Off’ in the Clifftown Telephone Museum in the renovated K6 red phone box just to the east of the Bowling Green.

The display, on show until November 25 as part of the Leigh Art Trail take over, features extracts written at the death of Lauren’s father.

The artwork also invites people to call a special phone number, only visible when viewing the artwork to leave a message for someone who has passed away.

In this way, the phone box is bringing together loved one who have been separated.

Messages left on the phone line will be used to help produce the next phase of Lauren’s art work when she revisits the museum in 2024.
