Town Clerk Appointed - A NEW Town Clerk has been appointed for Leigh Town Council.

A NEW Town Clerk has been appointed for Leigh Town Council.

Clare Milligan CilCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) takes the role, following the sacking of the previous Town Clerk, Helen Symmons, who was Leigh’s Town Council’s first female Town Clerk.

Ms Symmons, who served in the role for a number of years, was suspended from her role and it was confirmed earlier this year that she was no longer employed at the Town Council.

Now, Clare Milligan assumes the role, becoming Leigh Town Council’s second female Town Clerk.

Town Council chairman Bernard Arscott said: “I am delighted that Clare Milligan has joined Leigh-on-Sea Town Council as our new Town Clerk.

“Clare stood out above the other candidates throughout the appointments process.

“She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the sector, having previously been a Clerk to several Parish Councils.

“We look forward to working with her in the coming years, and hope that this appointment will bring much needed stability to the Council.”
