PROTESTERS gathered outside Leigh Community Centre on March 7  to show their support for 3 members of the centre’s office staff who were suspended from their jobs.

Town Councillor Carole Mulroney, sparked the protest with a Facebook post stating: “Office staff have all been suspended today.”

A spokesperson for the administration described the protest as being: “noisy and aggressive” while Coun Mulroney described it as: “peaceful and friendly.”

The Leigh On Sea News is unable to verify either side’s account and can therefore only report that a protest did take place, that the Police were called and that no arrests were made.

The reason for the staff’s suspensions remains confidential, as has been the case with the Town Clerk, Helen Symmons, who was also suspended from her job, almost ten months ago, and who remains on suspension at the time of writing.
