RAYLEIGH Town Museum received a welcome donation pf £250 from a local housing group.

Tamasin Hensman and Leanne Levy form Sanctuary Housing presented the museum with a cheque at a recent visit to the fully-accessible museum at 91 Rayleigh High Street.

Housed in a timber-framed house dating from at least the 16th century, the museum is full of artefacts and memorabilia relating to the town’s past.

The museum regularly holds themed exhibitions, which sheds further light on articular facets of Rayleigh, such as its railways, public houses, and link to wider national events.

Mike Davies museum chairman said: “We are delighted that Sanctuary Housing are supporting the local community by making this most generous donation of £250.

“Their name will now be added to the museum benefactors board in recognition of this wonderful gesture.”

Opening times are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday10am to 4pm, with free entry.
