A WELL-attended fundraising music night in Hamlet Court Road brought the sounds of the 60s to Westcliff.

Over 100 guests enjoyed a fundraising Swing-along-a-60s night at The Haven Community Hub, as they danced to music performed by The 60s Jukebox band.

The band played popular hits including, The Beatles’ Can’t Buy Me Love, Downtown by Petula Clark, Sweet Talking Guy by The Chiffons, Lulu’s Shout and I’m a Believer by The Monkees.

With thanks to the Band, attendees and supporters, the event helped raise ÂŁ815 for Age Concern Southend.

Attendee Jilly Henderson-Long said: “Dressed for the occasion, the four ladies and one man of band kept us dancing in our seats and on the dance floor for just over two hours – and they performed free of charge, so that the centre benefitted from all the cash raised on the night.

“It was truly a fab night. Roll on the next one.”

Age Concern Southend, a local independent charity who provide services to support and empower older people living in Southend and surrounding areas, has services that include a Dementia Day Centre, Befriending and the Community Hub.

Events are held regularly at the Community Hub for all ages, including an exciting programme of Christmas events.
