A LEIGH man has battled hallucinations and heat stroke to run 104 miles, raising to money for a mental health charity, encouraging everyone to “look out for each other.”

Nicholas Mead, 39, took part in the Ultra Trail Snowdonia event, a race featuring 10,000 meters of vertical elevation.

He ran to support South East and Central Essex Mind (SECE), a Southend-based charity that aids individuals struggling with poor mental health across south Essex.

Mr Mead decided to raise funds for SECE Mind after experiencing difficulty in seeking help during his own struggles.

By challenging himself, he hopes to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and seek support when needed.

Mr Mead said: “I have tackled ten marathons before, but this 100-mile ultramarathon was a whole new ball game.

“I find it hard ort believe I did complete it, but I feel this overwhelming sense of achievement and confidence that we are all far more capable of doing things we never thought possible.”

Mr Mead has raised more than £5,000, but you can still donate to his appeal at: justgiving.com/page/nick-mead.
