Upgraded Typhoon Jet

MARK Francois saw for himself the latest upgrade of the RAF’s Typhoon fighter jet, at a recent major international airshow.
Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mr Francois, who also serves as the Shadow Armed Forces Minister, was shown the latest Tranche 3 variant of the RAF’s Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft, during a recent visit to the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in Gloucestershire.
The Tranche 3 Typhoon, which is manufactured at the BAE Systems site in Warton, Lancs, is fitted with the latest advanced electronics and defensive aids, to help keep the RAF’s own top guns safe, while they guard the skies above the UK and further afield, in places such as the Middle East.
Speaking about his visit, Mr Francois said: “The RAF Typhoon is one of the most capable aircraft in service today and it is constantly being upgraded, to keep it ahead of the threats our pilots might face.
“It was a privilege to see the upgraded aircraft up close at RIAT, not least as these aircraft are guarding our airspace, 24/7, in order to keep our country safe.”
