A SOUTH Essex MP helped to organise a meeting between Veterans and Conservative Leader, Kemi Badenoch, in Parliament.
Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, who also serves as the Shadow Armed Forces Minister, arranged for a group of Northern Ireland Veterans and their supporters, to see the Tory Leader in her Westminster office.
The discussion, which lasted for around half an hour, centred around the Government’s proposed ‘Northern Ireland Troubles Bill’ which many Veterans fear will open up their service in Northen Ireland to an endless cycle of investigation and re-investigation, often at the hands of Sinn Fein and their allies.
Speaking about the meeting, Mr Francois said: “The Veterans were very glad to have an opportunity to meet with Kemi and explain, in person, their concerns about the NI Troubles Bill, which threatens to expose them to years of ‘lawfare’ often at the hands Republicans.
“They were reassured to hear that Kemi opposes the Bill and would seek to repeal it, if it ever makes it into law.”
