THE popular paddle steamer The Waverly is launching a special voyage to commemorate Southend’s “Pier of the Year” accolade.

In an exuberant celebration of Southend Pier’s triumphant title as the Pier of the Year 2023, Waverley Excursions has unveiled an extraordinary cruise scheduled for the upcoming month.

The world’s last remaining seagoing paddle steamer will whisk passengers away on an enchanting escapade, granting an unparalleled vantage point of the award-winning pier and the captivating historic Thames Forts, setting sail from the end of Southend Pier at 11.30am on Friday, September 22.

A breath-taking cruise along the coastline will afford an intimate encounter with the venerable Thames Forts, steadfastly guarding the shores through generations.
