Multiple fire crews battled the blaze at the yard of RSK Tyres, on London Road in the early hours of March 22.

Fire Fighters were met with a huge blaze, which took 90 minutes to extinguish as they fought to put out two tonnes of burning tyres and a number of vehicles.

A spokesperson for Essex Fire said: “Crews were called to a fire in a yard on London Road, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“At 2.45am the incident commander reported two tonnes of tyres and a number of vehicles were on fire.”

That evening, the fire service confirmed that its investigation had concluded and found that fire was started deliberately.

David Gomez, incident commander, praised his firefighters for their quick response. He said: “Our crews did a fantastic job of surrounding the fire and stopping it from spreading to nearby buildings.

“It was thanks to their hard work and skill that we managed to quickly bring it under control and extinguish it within 90 minutes.”
