Leigh choir support RNLI

A LEIGH choir are performing a charity concert in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir will join The Essex Concert Orchestra & South Essex Youth Symphony Orchestra to present ‘On The Water’ At Mill Hall Arts & Events Centre, Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh, SS7 7ED on April 8, starting at 7.30pm.

The evening will feature a selection of timeless themes and songs depicting water and the sea.

Tickets for adults are £12.00, concessions £10.00, students and children £5.00, and family (2 adults+ up to 4 children) £30.00.

Anglo-Italian Circle

THE next meeting of the Southend Anglo-Italian Circle will take place on Wednesday, April 12.

This month Chantal Griggs will give a talk in Italian on her recent ‘workaway’ experience in Tuscany, when she spent a month near the beautiful city of Siena working with local people, sharing their lives, working in their vegetable garden, helping in the house and, most importantly, making new friends – all the time speaking Italian and honing her language skills.

This meeting will take place in Room 7 at the Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh. SS9 1SP.

Doors open 7:30pm for 8pm start.

CWRA host ward hustings

THE next meeting of the Chalkwell Ward Residents Association (CWRA) will give residents the opportunity to hear from candidates standing for election as Chalkwell Ward councillor in the forthcoming elections to Southend City Council.

Candidates will be invited to introduce themselves and explain the priorities they would adopt if elected, followed by a question-and-answer session.

All are welcome, and there is no charge for non-members to attend the hustings.

The hustings are expected to finish at around 8:30pm, after which there will be a short break before continuing with the business part of the evening.

The meeting will take place at Alleyn Court Preparatory School, 3 Imperial Avenue, Westcliff, SS0 8NE on Wednesday, April 19, at 7:30pm.
