A GROUP of fearless yet freezing fundraisers took a dozen plunges to raise nearly £4,000 for vital hospice care.
The team, made up of nine employees from Havens Hospices, braved the icy cold Southend Sea 12 times throughout the festive period to raise funds for Havens Hospices.
A spokesperson for Havens said: “A huge well done to the ‘Freezing Cold Fundraisers’ for completing their 12 dips of Christmas!
“They have raised an amazing £3,720, which will support us in ‘Making Every Day Count’ for all of the babies, children, young adults and adults that we care for.”
Janet, one of the nurses who took part in the challenge said: “I never imagined I would be dipping in the winter sea in December – especially as I really hate the cold, but I always want to do my bit to help the charity.
“I see first-hand how important hospice care is and how it can make such a difference to families who are going through the toughest time in their lives.
“That’s what motivates me, even in these freezing conditions.”
