A LOCAL author is set to run a new writing workshop in Leigh’s Create 98 space.
Chris Penhall, who is a writer of contemporary romance novels, is running a ‘Creative Writing Refresh Workshop’ on February 12th between 7 and 9pm, with the aim of helping budding and more experienced writers refresh their creative language.
“The two-hour workshop designed to exercise your writing muscles,” explained Ms Penhall.
“It can be difficult to change the way we write if our everyday communication is mainly comprised of reports, essays, e-mails and everything else we need to do.”
Ms Penhall speaks from experience, as in her professional life she not only has six novels under her belt, but works as a journalist and a freelance radio and podcast producer and worked for BBC Essex, appearing live on air and producing four one-hour radio documentaries.
She also produces and presents a community radio programme, Books and Tunes and the podcast, Chris and Lizzie’s Random Bookish Chats with fellow author, Lizzie Chantree, with whom she runs a monthly Writing Buddies Meet up.
Ms Penhall aims to help people commence their writing project, whilst enjoying a sociable evening, with drinks and snacks available to purchase on the night.
She adds: “Whether you can’t get started with your project, move it along, or just want a bit of a boost, the workshop will provide you with ideas, strategies and a few simple writing exercises to get you out of your rut and into a creative mood.”
Tickets for the session, at Create 98, 98 Broadway, are £25 and can be bought via this link:
